A walk through the decades.

Take a journey back in time with a look in our galleries of Blyth of yesteryear. We found a lot of these photos online and because of their age can't be sure who the various photographers were. If we've used anything that belongs to you, get in touch and we'll happily credit it to you.

The name Blyth was first recorded in 1130 as Blida after the river Blyth. Blida means gentle or merry and is taken from Old English. In 1236 the town was referred to as Blithmuth and in 1250 as Blithemuth. Had the name persisted, the town would translate to Blythmouth today.
