Phase two plans for the Links area at South Beach.
Blyth beach has long been the jewel in the crown of our town and following on from the success of the Links phase one development, plans are progressing for phase two.
The plans include an eighty bed hotel with a family orientated pub alongside. There will also be a retail pod area, similar to the highly successful units on the quayside at Amble. It is thought the pods could be used by businesses such as cycle hire, surf board retailers and food vendors.
The land has been overgrown and unused since the derelict buildings which were once a part of Link House Farm were demolished in 2022.
Public consultations are currently underway and it's thought that the general feeling from locals is positive. Although we have seen several posts on social media from residents concerned about over development in the area.
Of course, those of us who live in Blyth have always known we have a world class coastal gem, it is a bit of a well kept secret This development may well let the cat out of the bag and attract some desperately needed visitors from outside of the area into the town.
A recent Colliers report revealed that there is severe under provision of hotel accommodation in the area and it is hoped that this development will go some way towards addressing the situation.
The development is planned by Blagdon Estates who also built phase one of the scheme which was completed in the spring 2023.
